The Kaiāwhina plays a vital role within the Primary and Community Team, working closely with individuals and whānau to support their overall health and wellbeing. This position is centred on building trust, supporting navigation through the health and social system, and enabling whānau to lead their own care journey through a culturally grounded, holistic approach.

Working within the principles of Te Whare Tapa Whā, the Kaiāwhina focuses on whānau who experience barriers to health access and are at risk of poorer health outcomes. The role supports health prevention, early intervention, access to services, and smooth transitions across primary, community, and other support systems.
